CLOVER HILL CIVIC ASSOCIATION

Coaches Code Of Conduct

I pledge to live up to my responsibilities as a Coach as identified in this Monocacy Youth Basketball Association Coaches Code of Conduct.

I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my players ahead of any personal desire to win. I will inform them that academics come first and that it is important to maintain good grades.

I will remember that a primary goal of the Association is that every player must play half of their game subject to regular practice attendance and subject to behavior appropriate to the program

I will do my very best to provide a safe play situation for my players and to give them the immediate attention needed to treat injuries. I will remember to treat each player as an individual, mindful of the large spread of emotional and physical development for the same age group.

I will do my best to organize practices that are fun and challenging for all my players. I will use those coaching techniques appropriate for each of the skills that I teach.

I will lead by example, in demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship to all my players. I will be respectful to officials and set a positive tone for all spectators present in support of my team and its players.

I will complete all administrative responsibilities associated with coaching a MBA team and will do so in a timely and complete manner. This includes, but is not limited to, gym supervision, direction with regard to fund raising activities, the distribution of uniforms, and dissemination of Parents Ethics Forms.

I will ensure that I am knowledgeable in the rules of basketball, and that I will teach these rules to my players.

I will remember that the Monocacy Youth Basketball Association, while competitive, is primarily developmental for the participants and I will do nothing to embarrass any of my players.

I will do my very best to compete in a friendly environment and will do nothing to purposely embarrass any fellow coaches and his or her players, and in so doing set the tone for all spectators present in support of my team and its players.

I will remember that I am a coach for a specific Area team. If I have knowledge that a player, is ineligible or should more appropriately be playing for another Area I will immediately contact the other coach and the league president for consultation and resolution.

I will always remember that I am a youth basketball coach, and that This Is A Kid’s Game For The Benefit Of The Kids And Not For Adults.
